Saturday evening, April 14, N St. Music, (716 N St.) presents The Notorious Shank Brothers and Sweet 100s, music starting about 8 and going to about 11:30
The Notorious Shank Brothers have been a Bluegrass fixture around Yolo County since 2006, playing at the Yolo County Fair each year, Rominger West Winery, Sudwerk Dock Store, Picnic-in-the-Park and the Woodland Opera House, as well as at N St. in December 2010. In addition to traditional Bluegrass, NSB features country songs done Bluegrass style and a smattering of more modern Bluegrass. Since July 2010, the band has consisted of Erik Shank on banjo, Al Shank on mandolin, Ken Eldridge on guitar and Kim-Xuan Nguyen on bass, with everyone pitching in on vocals around the traditional one microphone.
With three voices and a smattering of hands on banjo, mandolin, guitar, flute and bass, Sweet 100s offers up delectable arrangements of traditional, folk, americana and country songs. This Davis-based trio of Margaret Lloyd, Abbie Turiansky and Kim-Xuan Nguyen will set your hearts racing and your toes tapping.
Admission is $8.
